Established in 1930, the Ranch was created out of the work camp built in 1928 for the construction of Stewart Mountain Dam. The main lodge functioned as the mess hall, ice house, and commissary for the construction crew. The workers lived in cabins lining the roadway to the new dam. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need a reservation?
Yes, please call or email to check ride times, availability, and to book your reservation. Reservations are available online. For same day reservations, please call 480-984-0335.
What is your weight limit for the rides?
Depending on your height, Fall/Winter Season is 220 lbs. Please call to discuss.
Can I bring a bag with me on the ride?
For your safety, we do not permit any items around your neck, back or waist. This includes fanny packs, purses, backpacks of any size, two handed cameras and Camelback’s.
What do I need for the ride?
Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes. We have saddle bags on each horse for your personal items, ie: water bottles and cell phones. We recommend a hat and sunscreen for warmer weather, and bottled water is required during temps over 75° for each rider. Hats and second layers must be snug fitting and remain on for the duration of the ride.
Myself or someone in my group just found out we are pregnant, can we ride?
For your safety and the safety of your future child, no.
Do you have helmets available?
Yes! And they are highly recommended for each rider, though not required. The decision is up to the adults if anyone in their group will be wearing a helmet. You are welcome to bring your own helmet.
My child is under the age of 7 or they are nervous to ride on their own, can they ride double with me on my horse?
No. We do not allow “double riding.”
My child will be 7 in just a few months and they are very tall and mature for their age, can they still go on a tour?
No. We are firm that all children must be a minimum of 7 years old or older to ride.
Can I bring my dog with me to the ranch while I wait?
No. We do not allow outside animals at the ranch.
